For over 150 years, Tattersall’s Club has been associated with the growth of Brisbane and Club Membership now spans all the professions, government, commerce and sports.
In 1997, the Club’s redevelopment was completed to include a range of new services and facilities for the Club’s Members, their partners and families enjoy including the new Tattersall’s Health and Wellness Centre.
Tattersall’s Club Members have the opportunity to become Health and Wellness Centre Members, either on an annual or casual basis, providing them with access to the gym equipment, personal training, classes and facilities. Member partners, families, friends and colleagues are also welcome to become Associate Members.
Located on levels five and six of the heritage listed building, the Health and Wellness Centre provides a 25 metre indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, spa and steam room, all conveniently available in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD.
In 2017, Tattersall’s Health and Wellness Centre Members enjoy new state of the art equipment from Matrix Fitness, one of the world’s premier commercial fitness brands.
We interviewed Michael Durham, Health and Wellness Centre Manager at Tattersalls to understand more about the Club’s success to date.
As the Health and Wellness Centre Manager I oversee all operations of the Centre. From Memberships, budgeting, managing of our personal trainers, while focusing on maintaining a fun and friendly environment for our members.
In terms of differentiators to other fitness clubs, we pride ourselves on delivering a holistic training programme, which includes fitness testing, physio and massage. We also welcome input and communication from GP’s and other health professionals. Our trainers are highly qualified and capable. In addition, being a Member’s only facility we, have the time to personalise our service, to maintain a strong member focus.
The Club caters for the top quarter of businessmen in the city of Brisbane, while offering a service to their wives, partners and family members. Having such an in-depth understanding of the demographic of their members gives the Club a powerful strategic advantage.
Our relationship with Matrix is still very new. We installed the 7xe range of cardio and the versa series of strength equipment in late July. Nevertheless, to date we have been very impressed with the equipment and the feedback from our Members has been very positive. We upgraded from the Cybex range of cardio and strength equipment to Matrix and it has been the right decision for us – a definite win.
As of 2017 Tattersall’s Health and Wellness Centre has been open and operational for 20 years. Our focus moving forward is providing the best service and state of the art facility, to maintain a good steady flow of Members through Tattersall’s Health and Wellness Centre. Offering Matrix equipment to our members has allowed us to offer an elite training experience to our members. All feedback regarding the equipment to date has been very positive.
The benefits of working with Matrix
Matrix’s workout tracking system has been the biggest asset for us. With the App designs from netpulse, coupled with the PT Portal, we now as trainers have the ability to design and monitor our members when they are in the club. In addition, I as a manager can track attendances allowing me to contact Members not attending. This is a great customer retention solution for us – we’re already seeing results.
Michael’s closing statement and feedback regarding a working relationship with Matrix - Matrix Equipment is a well manufactured, quality product. This with the added benefit of the workout tracking system and added extras gives you the ability to stay ahead of the everchanging industry of fitness.
